The new Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro is another impressive release in the line of affordable, high-quality controllers from Gamesir. Known for their consistent design and usability, Gamesir impresses yet again with this model, which rivals even the major third-party controllers in the market. As a fan, I always look forward to their new products, whether they’re for Xbox, mobile phones, or PCs, and this one doesn’t disappoint.
So, is the Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro worth adding to your collection, or are there some drawbacks? That’s exactly what we aim to discover in this review. I’ve spent a few weeks testing the controller on different devices, including a PC, Steamdeck, and Nintendo Switch.
Packaging
The Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro comes in a compact, secure package. The box isn’t flashy but has a touch of style that matches Gamesir’s usual branding. Inside, you’ll find the controller, a USB wireless dongle, a USB Type-C cable, some paperwork, an instruction manual, and a Gamesir logo sticker. The controller has a non-removable battery already installed. It’s a well-thought-out package that keeps everything safe during transit.
Design
Looking at the design, the Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro closely mimics the Xbox Series X/S/One controller, with a few subtle tweaks. If you’re familiar with Xbox controllers, this one will feel instantly familiar. During testing, I had no problem using it for extended gaming sessions like playing “Tower of Fantasy” on the Pimax Portal for three hours straight.
The button layout and ABYX face buttons are identical to those on an Xbox controller, which simplifies gaming on a PC since most games default to Xbox button schemes. However, it’s worth noting that the controller isn’t compatible with Xbox consoles, despite my attempts with plugging it in and using the dongle. The analog stick placement is the same, which might require some adjustment for players used to PlayStation controllers.
I find the Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro very comfortable for long gaming sessions. While it lacks the RGB flair found in the Gamesir T4 Kaleid controller, it still has a chic, subdued design that appeals to users who prefer a more subtle aesthetic.
Build Quality
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro is its remarkably lightweight build. It’s significantly lighter than the default Xbox and PlayStation 5 controllers, which might surprise those who prefer a heftier feel. Personally, I found the lighter weight enhances comfort, especially during extended gaming.
The lightweight also proves advantageous when using the controller with a phone. Although the phone clip isn’t included with the review unit and sold separately, the light build reduces fatigue. Despite being lightweight, the controller is robust and durable, showing no signs of bending or flexing under pressure. The materials used for the buttons, triggers, sticks, and grips are of high quality, which makes the controller’s affordable price even more impressive.
Hall Effect
Gamesir made waves with their G7 SE controller for Xbox, featuring Hall effect sticks with official Microsoft support. While that controller had some issues like unbalanced vibration and being wired, the Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro addresses these concerns (although it doesn’t support Xbox consoles). The T4 Pro includes Hall effect sticks, enhancing precision and durability.
In summary, the Gamesir Cyclone T4 Pro stands out in design, build quality, and usability. It offers a comfortable gaming experience and robust construction, all at a competitive price, making it a solid addition to the Gamesir lineup.
