The AUDEZE LCD-GX
Let’s talk about this gaming headset. It’s a big deal for me and this site because it’s the first time we’re testing something in the 1,000 euro price range.
As an average person, I have to be careful not to think everything is amazing just because of the high price.
So, I’ll be pretty strict in my review. If you’re spending about 1,000 euros on a headset, it better be worth it.
For this test, I’m only evaluating the LCD-GX as headphones. I prefer using an external microphone, even though the LCD-GX comes with its own mic. Since it can be both a headset and headphones, I chose to focus on the headphone aspect.
If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know I’m all about practical testing. You won’t get an in-depth frequency analysis or lab-like values here. Also, I won’t list out all the technical details—you can find those on Audeze’s official website.
Packaging & What’s Included
When you open the shipping box, you’ll notice it’s no ordinary packaging. My brother-in-law joked that it looks like a “plutonium case.” It’s a cool foamed transport case made of plastic and aluminum, and it feels really high quality.
There’s a lot included in the package. You get a detachable headphone cable with a mini XLR plug that clicks into place and feels sturdy thanks to its braided design. There’s also a small jack adapter that adjusts the phases—though I’m not sure why you’d need it in Germany.
However, for PC users, the large jack plug requires an additional adapter, which isn’t included. I wish they had added this, especially since it’s marketed for gamers.
