Experience the Revolution: Cutting-Edge Gameplay and Movement Systems in Modern Warfare 2

With the launch of Modern Warfare II just around the corner, many fans have questions about what Infinity Ward is doing to keep the game fresh. Like its predecessor, Infinity Ward is enhancing its parkour system, drawing inspiration from Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, and introducing new features and mechanics. Here’s what you need to know!

Multiplayer Maps and Mechanics

The multiplayer maps in Modern Warfare II stick to tighter, more straightforward designs. Players can now test these new mechanics in Warzone 2’s larger and more varied environments, letting them use the surroundings to their advantage.

Movement

Ladders & Ropes: You can position ladders along walls, containers, and buildings, but if not supported, they will fall and break, resetting the Field Upgrade. Ropes allow you to rappel down and climb up buildings. While rappelling, you can swing through windows or collapsed walls. Additionally, you can attach ropes to vehicles and players for quick escapes.

Shifting & Strafing: Strafing lets you move sideways or backward. If you find yourself too close to danger or at a disadvantage around a corner, you can shift out to clear space and reassess your options.

Wall-Climb: Climb vertically up walls, depending on the height of the platform you’re trying to reach.

Ledge-Hanging: Hang from and grab ledges, a new feature that helps you reach difficult platforms and reduces fall damage. You can also use your sidearm while hanging.

Sliding: The sliding mechanic has been improved, allowing you to slide into a prone position or down sloped surfaces.

Bunny-Hopping: Your speed boost during a bunny-hop depends on the height you fall from—the higher you fall, the faster your bunny-hop.

Gameplay Features

Exigency Hip-Fire (Quick Sidearm Draw): Quickly switch to your sidearm with one hand, which you can also do with lethal equipment.

Suppressor Meter: Adjust the size of suppressors, affecting recoil, damage, and range. A meter will help you find the right balance.

Weapon Handling (Grips): Operators can choose from various tactical grip techniques that affect weapon accuracy and speed, such as the Magwell Grip and C-Clamp Grip.

Magazine Check Animation: In modes with limited HUD, inspect your weapon’s magazine to check ammo count.

Reticle Ammunition Count: New reticles display ammo count for weapons like revolvers and shotguns.

These updated mechanics offer a new learning curve, allowing players to effectively practice and master new gameplay features, enhancing their overall experience.
