The uRage Lethality 450 Illuminated Mousepad Review
About a year ago, I reviewed uRage’s Lethality 400 mouse pad. It was nearly perfect, but a couple of minor issues made it less than ideal. You can check out my previous review for more details.
Now, I’m testing its successor, the Lethality 450, to see if uRage addressed those issues. I also provided those criticisms to the manufacturer at the time, so let’s find out if they listened!
Since the 450 is quite similar to the 400 with just a few new features, I’ll keep this review focused on those updates.
What’s New with the Lethality 450?
1. New Design for All Users: The mousepad’s format has been updated, making it suitable for both left-handed and right-handed users. It measures 34 x 90 cm.
2. Improved Port Placement: The lighting connection and USB ports have been moved to the center of the upper edge, which looks much better than having a cable sticking out from the side. The hub now offers three USB-A ports and one USB-C port.
I use one of these ports for my wireless mouse receiver, which shortens the distance between the mouse and its receiver — very convenient!
What’s Been Improved?
Let’s address the issues I had with the previous version:
– Material Waves: Initially, the new mousepad has slight waves due to packaging, but these flatten out after a few days. This is a significant improvement over the Lethality 400, where the material tension remained.
– Power Supply Settings: One of my major complaints was having to reset the color settings every time I restarted my PC. Now, the current settings are retained even if there’s a power loss — finally!
Additional Notes
I still love the surface and material of the mousepad. It strikes a perfect balance between smooth mouse movement, tactile feel, and easy cleaning.
The slight recess in the middle, which deviates from a simple rectangular shape, might not be necessary from a functional standpoint. However, it keeps the ports within the mousepad’s dimensions, leaving extra room for things like a stream deck or an audio interface. I think it’s a clever design choice!
In conclusion, the Lethality 450 has made some smart improvements over its predecessor, making it a top choice for a versatile, high-performance mousepad.
