Exciting Nintendo Direct Unveiled, Yet the Switch 2 Remains Elusive

With Summer Games Fest behind us, all eyes are on Nintendo, the only major console publisher yet to host a presentation this month. Both Sony and Microsoft have already held their events over the past few weeks. But gamers won’t have to wait much longer—Nintendo has just announced its next Nintendo Direct presentation.

Mark your calendars for June 18, 2024, at 10 am ET/3 pm BST. The presentation will be about 40 minutes long and will focus on games scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch during the second half of the year. Don’t expect any news about the Switch 2 console though; this event will be all about the upcoming game releases.

It’s going to be interesting to see whether the event features more first-party or third-party games. The release schedule for first-party titles is looking pretty sparse. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is coming out on June 27, and then there’s Nintendo World Championship: NES Edition on July 18. Beyond that, there isn’t much else with set release dates for the rest of the year. Pokémon Legends ZA is slated for a 2025 release, but any updates on that will likely be saved for a separate Pokémon Direct.

On the third-party front, there are a few more exciting titles to anticipate, like Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

There’s also a chance we might get some news about Metroid Prime 4. The game recently marked the seven-year anniversary since its initial announcement, but don’t get your hopes up too high.
