I was particularly impressed with the little foam rings used to hold the analog sticks securely. The package also includes extra analog sticks, a warranty card, a user manual, and a Gamesir sticker—a complete setup to protect and get you started with the controller.
Design Features
A comfortable design is crucial for any controller, especially if you’re planning on extended gaming sessions. Gamesir has a good track record here, having released the Xbox-licensed Gamesir X2 Pro and the well-received Gamesir X3 in 2022. While those models were more compact, they sacrificed some control quality.
The Gamesir G8 Galileo takes design cues from the Xbox controller but offers full-sized analog sticks and deeper trigger buttons. It resembles an Xbox controller split in half, with a secure slot for your phone. Visually, it features a dark grey body with purple buttons, reminiscent of the SNES color scheme. The magnetic faceplate is easy to remove, making it a breeze to swap out the analog sticks.
Size and Portability
I prefer the feel of full-sized analog sticks and a sturdy grip, even if it means sacrificing some portability. The Gamesir G8 Galileo is about the size of a standard console controller with a phone slot, making it too bulky for pockets but manageable in a bag.
Build Quality
This controller is made from durable plastic and high-quality rubber, offering a premium, solid feel. It’s sturdy but not heavy, so long gaming sessions, like playing Dead Cells, are comfortable. The back features a laser-etched texture for a better grip.
The phone cradle is lined with textured rubber to hold your device securely and prevent scratches. I’ve tried it with and without a phone case, and the phone stayed firmly in place during gaming.
