The OBSBOT MEET Webcam: A Modern Solution for Home and Office
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Germany in March 2020, we all suddenly had to focus more on webcams. Businesses needed them for remote work, and so did individuals and gamers who found themselves with more time for online activities.
The webcam industry took off, and so did the software companies making it easier for us to connect online. Discord, for instance, became a top choice for gamers more than ever.
I hadn’t invested in a webcam before, but the pandemic changed that. I got one for streaming, gaming with friends, and even for the occasional virtual beer toast.
Given that webcams have become a key part of a gaming setup, reviewing one was inevitable for gamer83.de. So, when I heard about the OBSBOT MEET from a press release, it piqued my interest. I decided to try it out myself.
Packaging, Delivery, and Features
The OBSBOT MEET comes in two versions: HD and 4K. I opted for the HD version, as 4K didn’t seem necessary for a webcam just yet. All the technical specs are available on the official OBSBOT website.
The packaging is sleek and stylish, containing the camera and the usual accessories. What stood out to me was the foldable, magnetic mount. If you’ve ever tried attaching a webcam to your screen and struggled, you’ll appreciate how flexible and easy to use this mount is.
Build Quality, Feel, and Design
The OBSBOT MEET has a compact design with very angular contours, which I found appealing. It avoids the overly futuristic or flashy look that I dislike.
At 72 grams, the webcam is heavier or at least feels heavier than others, such as those from Logitech, thanks to its dense design. It’s made of matte black plastic, which not only looks sleek but also doesn’t show dust easily.
The camera’s construction is excellent, and the privacy screen that slides over the lens is a handy feature. If you don’t need it, you can easily move it out of the way.
Overall Impression and Conclusion
Despite all its great features, the OBSBOT MEET has a notable downside in its primary function. The picture quality, especially in lower light, could be better. I didn’t expect this initially, but it’s something to consider.
However, I still use the OBSBOT MEET daily. The software, AI auto-framing, and the quality during Teams meetings are top-notch. I’m holding out hope for a future update that might improve its performance in low light.
For now, if lighting isn’t a major concern for you, the OBSBOT MEET is an impressive choice. But for those who need superior performance in dimly-lit environments, it might be best to wait and see if improvements are made.
